Well, the storm that was coming came and gave us some rain down here in the valley and some snow up in the mountains.
Daniel and I went for another walk today (we go on lots of walks, it keeps me sane I think) and we were treated to some lovely weather and some nice views. Snow in the mountains, grass still green, leafs changing colors, warmer temps with just a little bit of a cool breeze.
So nice.

Wonderful weather
This is the best time of year by far.
This warm autumn weather we have been having lately is like a loaf of freshly baked bread coming right out of the oven. And just like a loaf of warm bread it seems to disappear too quickly.
Maybe that is why this time of year is so precious, it doesn't last long and the soul breaking winter that follows usually does. You want to sit and enjoy it but it can be difficult, the more you enjoy it the more you know you soon won't be able to.
So here are a few photos I've taken around our condo area over this past week and a half.
Come January I'm going to sit here and look at these photos and wimper a little. Hell, I might openly weep in public.
-Wednesday, October 12th-

Two horses in the open field behind our condos.
-Friday, October 14th-

Snow on the mountain peaks, grass still green.

Someone still has some tomatoes in the garden behind our condos.

More of the garden and the open field.

Fall colors against a deep blue sky.
-Monday, October 17th-

The mountains that every day greet me with a, "Good morning Gary. Did you sleep well?"

I'd bet there are a couple of pheasants in there somewhere.

Corn stalks ready to be cut down.

Another condo scene.

The shaded path that leads to our front door. Pleasant.
-Tuesday, October 18th-

More fall colors against a perfect sky.

The only spot in the condo complex better than ours. (Long story.)

The farm to the south west.

Pleasant Grove sunset August 25th, 2011
So tonight I was driving home from work fixated on a rainbow that had formed in front of me as I drove south out of Lehi and towards Provo. It was pretty cool I thought, an unexpected gift from Mother Nature on this fine day. That was until I got off the freeway in Pleasant Grove and looked back over my left shoulder and saw the begining of spectacular sunset. I raced home hoping to grab the camera and take a few pictures. Too bad I couldn't snap some shot about five minutes before I got these because it was even more impressive. But I'll be thankful for what I was able to capture.

Sunday drive

Aimee and I were bored out of our minds and I was feeling couped up. So I told her lets just go for a drive somewhere, anywhere.
We ended up on the top of whatever hill that is at Point of the Mountain where everyone does their parasailing. It was a nice view and it salvaged what had become a gruff day.

The view out our window

You gotta enjoy life's simple pleasures and one of mine is looking out our living room window every morning. Its not Sound of Music inspiring every day but for a stretch of a few days back in early May it was. Luckily I gave the windows a good cleaning on one of my days off sometime around late April after Aimee had reminded me it was warming up and it was time to get the screens put back up (I take the screens out of the windows for the winter, Aimee thinks its weird but in my world it makes sense).
So I gave the windows a good cleaning, got the screens put back in, and then we got lucky with a late spring snow storm. The snow had melted pretty much from all of the lower elevations at that time but here we got a gift with a new blanket of the white stuff. One morning I woke up, looked outside and started singing, "the hills are alive with the sound of music." I grabbed the camera and snapped the two above photos to capture the moment. And yes, those are taken from inside the house looking out my clean windows! Then I ran outside and snapped the third photo just out our front door.
I'd love to go to Switzerland or Austria some day, but until then I'll just have to look out our living room window.
